Applications are invited to apply for the University of Freiburg DAAD EPOS Scholarship 2026 in Germany. All International students can apply for these fully funded scholarships in Germany. Those students who want to pursue their master’s degree abroad on a fully funded scholarship are welcome to apply. Applicants receiving scholarships must meet the MEG program’s admission standards in addition to the DAAD EPOS requirements.


The University of Freiburg is offering the DAAD EPOS Scholarship Program for students wishing to pursue a master’s degree. This scholarship has no application fee, and all costs are paid for. The university will choose the applicants in the first step, and DAAD will choose the scholarship in the second step. To study the master’s program, which is called the “MSc Environmental Governance Program (MEG),” international applicants may apply for the DAAD Fully Funded Scholarship. A restricted number of EPOS Scholarships are available because the MEG program has been chosen by the “Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst” (DAAD) as a postgraduate study connected to development.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be considered for the University of Freiburg DAAD EPOS Scholarship, you must fulfill these eligibility criteria:

  • Young professionals from these nations are eligible to apply for the scholarship.
  • An undergraduate degree is required.
  • Applicants must own an academic degree that is no more than six years old as of October 2026, when they apply.
  • Applicants must possess a minimum of two years of relevant work experience (at the time of application, post-Bachelor); volunteering and internships are not accepted.
  • It should be noted that work in academia, such as teaching and research in a university or research facility, is not regarded as relevant work experience for this scholarship type; acceptance is only possible in very specific circumstances.
  • Candidates must own an above-average (upper-third) academic degree.
  • Applicants living in Germany for no more than 15 months before submitting an application
  • Applicants who have earned a master’s degree must present a compelling argument for funding a second postgraduate degree.


How to Apply for University of Freiburg DAAD EPOS Scholarship?

  • Consider completing the OEA if you are unsure if you meet the program’s admissions standards.
  • An email verifying your eligibility to apply for the program and the DAAD scholarship will be sent to you within a week. Only until October 8th will OEAs be processed.
  • It is necessary to combine all of the documents under Application Documents into a single PDF file, compress it, and email it to info-meg@unr.uni-freiburg.de.
  • Reference letters must be sent directly to info-meg@unr.uni-freiburg.de by the referees, not to the applicant.
  • There is no need to submit other documents (like the project outline) that are needed on the DAAD application form.
